Yes Eddie Bauer did close 27 stores this year (2008). They are not planing to close any stores next year (2009). And every store that was closed was done so based on there location (High priced mall leases) or they were under preforming stores. The fact is Eddie Bauer did open 22 new stores this year (2008). I would also check their third quarter news and decide for yourself. Eddie Bauer may have closed some 27 stores, but what you don't hear is that they have opened 22!! The closings may have been due to newer malls being opened down the road from the mall where a lease was up, an older store closing to be rebuilt into an updated set up. The quality and merchandise of Eddie Bauer has improved dramatically, their service is better than most places. I don't see them going anywhere but up!
