One thing that I’ve noticed since I begun couponing is how much we have saved on pet food. Not just food but treats, supplies and I even won a rebate for vet care awhile back. Our beagle, Sparky, has a nice stockpile of food and quite the variety of treats that I have begun for a fraction of the cost by pairing coupons with sales.
I’m sure you have noticed the pet coupons in the Sunday inserts, on the product packaging and sometimes even inside the product. Of course not all of these coupons are great but every now and then one will come along that you will want to take advantage of using.
For instance some of you may recall the $5 Iams coupon from a few months ago that worked out for free dog and cat food at Walmart. Sometimes all it takes to begin a stockpile for your pet(s) is a great coupon to pair with a sale.
Obviously if you do decide to create a stockpile for your furry family member(s) you need to take a few things into consideration. For starters the product shelf life is important and how much your pet(s) can use. You don’t want to stock so much of a product that you will not be able to use it prior to its expiration date.
However if you do acquire too much there are plenty of shelters and rescues that would be more than appreciative of a generous donation of supplies.
Another thing to consider is the amount of space the products will take up and where you will store them.
When I find these great deals on dog food or treats that I want to stockpile I call upon my fellow couponers for help. I have found that I can get more of the coupons I want by mere trades then going out and buying extra papers. I have paired up with a few local couponers and I trade my coupons for cat products for coupons good on dog products. It’s a simple exchange that we make of coupons that we know we have no use for the products they are valid on.
All you need to do is find a buddy or two and figure out what coupons you have no need for that they do. Starting an exchange like this is a great way to share your passion for saving money and could even lead to heads up on deals in the future!

Thanks for the info.
My neighbors and family get so many coupons by trading with each other for products that we use the most.
My kitties are well stocked up on cat treats for life! But we can never get enough Tidy Cat coupons, those things are like gold at our house!

A couple months ago our local grocery store had a Purina deal. If you bought $30 of their products then you got 5 $5 off coupons for Purina products. I bought $30 worth of cat and dog food and used the coupons every week over the next month on Litter and dog and cat food. It worked out great since it was Purina Cat and Dog month with some great sales. By the way we have 2 cats and a dog.
