Sizzlin’ Summer Sweeps #Giveaway Day 21: V.Reader Animated E-Book System

As any parent of a preschooler knows, trying to keep their attention for longer than 5 minutes in any given activity can be quite difficult-especially little active 4 year old boys!! I was recently provided with the new V.Reader Animated E-Book System for us to try out and review and was hoping this would keep him entertained for longer than 5 minutes. Since we have gotten it, my son loves his new “talking” book!

The V.Reader Animated E-book System is an animated learning system where the stories come to life through vivid animation, narration, character voices, graphics, sounds and music. When the package arrived, my son could barely contain himself. We added batteries, turned it on and watched as his eyes lit up with glee as we toured the many features. We first discovered that there were 2 play modes:

• listen and follow along to the story as read by animated characters
• touch the screen and play reading games to learn each word or sentence

Each option provided lots of entertainment and I was surprised to see he picked it up so quickly even though he can’t read yet!

It engages young readers with stories by watching, reading and learning as they follow their favorite character’s voice, play reading games and use the story dictionary. Now instead of my son asking for “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” read by yours truly at bedtime- it’s “What’s that Noise” read by the V-Tech reader! I’m not sure if I like the thought of being replaced With just the right amount of light and features a timed shut off, he uses the reader as a night light after the story ends!

V-tech definatly has a winner with this reader and offers age appropiate games (ranging from 4 to 7yrs). You can also download 100+ stories off of line to add to their already extensive libray-inculding some of your child’s favorite Disney charactors.

Sharing is not a problem with this reader either as the screen is perfectly sized for a 3 child huddle, my nephews can attest to this with lots of ooh & ahh’s!  You’ll find it’s also perfect for travel , so car rides are now just a little more quiet except for the ocassional “Mommy I Won!” When batteries run out, there is an optional plug and car charger that can be purchased separately, as all moms know this is a got to have item with any beloved toy!

Another great feature is the ability to control volume!! I was SOOO happy to see this feature You can turn mute the volume or adjust volume- this was a blessing in my book!!

Downloadable Fun:
With a rich download library, more than 100 additional stories will be available via a download library located on the VTech Web site (www.vtechkids.com), including some free titles, more themes and avatars to customize their e-readers. V.Reader is compatible with a PC or Mac computer.

Track Progress:
Parents can join in on the fun and learning process with the features that include progress reports and reading certificates.

Lovable Characters:
Children’s favorite licensed characters come to life and help them learn with 11 software options (with more titles to be added in the near future).

Touch and Read System:
Kids have two play options – listen and follow along to the story as read by animated characters; or touch the screen and play reading games to learn each word or sentence.

Reading Skills:
Your child learns the necessary building blocks to grow into a fluent reader. V.Reader teaches reading comprehension, vocabulary, phonics and word building, along with a story dictionary that describes word definitions in a manner that’s easy for them to comprehend.

The V.Reader Animated E-Book System is a smart, and highly interactive learning tool that really keeps the kids engaged while providing lots of learning possiblities & really does bring reading to life!!
